San Agustin is preparing to host next weekend Maspalomas Soul Festival

From Friday, July 29 to Sunday, day 31, two concerts, DJ sessions and workshops will be offered for free in a family atmosphere

The tourist area South of Gran Canaria is prepared to live within a week of soul music in the first show of its kind currently carried out in Spain and, under the name Maspalomas-Costa Canaria Soul Festival, will take place from Friday 29 to Sunday July 31, in a purpose built stage on the beach of San Agustin, with free admission and ensuring a family atmosphere.

This is the second edition, following the success of last year, two concerts on Friday and Saturday, 29 and 30, with a large cast of international musicians, whose programming accommodate also gives sessions Djs commented, musical rides and several workshops until July 31 that, in a relaxed, closer to the public keys Soul, a native American musical genre that combines elements of gospel and rhythm and blues as a musical variety of Afro-American roots.

The musicians begin to reach the island from next week and will present their performances on Thursday, on the eve of the first concert. On Friday 29, 17:00 to 19:00, a musical walk through the history of the Soul through a DJ session commented, the musician Sergio Miró be offered. While, at night, from 21:00 pm, the first concert will be offered.

The next day, Saturday 30, with the same schedule, will be the turn of the musicians César and Enrique Martel Fernández-Villamil Menéndez, who will travel this style with examples performed live. These activities, free until full capacity, will take place in a tent specially installed at the mouth of ravine Joseíto (St. Augustine Beach). They are open to all audiences and ages and to participate in them is not necessary to have musical knowledge. On Saturday night the second concert and Sunday, July 31 will be offered, the day will be focused on the development of different musical workshops.

OTIS REDDING IN TRIBUTE TO THE SECOND EDITION

This year the shares iconography poster, with its namesake and original Porrettas festival in Bologna, Italy, where he has celebrated 26 years this activity. This time, in both locations a tribute is paid to the legendary Otis Redding, covering much of the signage, logos and symbols with organizers, promoters, musicians and collaborators. A total of twelve artists make up the program of action of the second edition of Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival that will include, among others, the singer Bobby Rush, headliner. Along with Rush, this year we can enjoy Falisa Janaye, Stacey Merino, Toni Gren, Stan Mosley & Theo Huiff, Bey & Paule Band, Mr.Kangrejo, the specialist tour Manel Ruiz or Soul DJs.

The second edition of Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival is organized by the City of San Bartolome de Tirajana, directed and produced by DD & Company Productions, with the collaboration of Porretta Soul Festival, Associazione Teatrale Emilia Romagna, RTVE, Neoturismo and Melia Tamarindos, Global and Cooperative Taxi Maspalomas, among other contributors. All programming is free and is aimed at a family audience, including workshops and good work in Mr.Kangrejo dishes, the specialist Manel Ruiz and Soultour DJs. Rock Hutton and Sergio Miró will be responsible for presenting concerts.

The Festival, according to its organizers, is a quality offer directed both the public resident and the visitor, and matches in the tourist area of southern Gran Canaria on holidays, between late June and early August. In addition to its familiar character, as appropriate activity for small and large, is aimed at a demanding public that demands other events and varaida cultural and leisure activities.
